BE A REAL AMERICAN, SUPPORT THE IRA!
This is the first political entry for this site and while you may question my motivation for this article, I am just wishing to shed some light on a very misunderstood subject. This article is titled "Be a real American, support the Irish Republican Army". This column is not mean to be inflammatory but only to let the average person know that the IRA is a group that is quite similar to our own revolutionaries. This article may be out of place for some but for me it only reaffirms my commitment to my readers to talk about real issues in a voice that is not heard in public because most are afraid to voice it.
You see, the IRA is a "terrorist" organization in the eyes of the governments of the US and the UK. The IRA's mission is the unification of Northern Ireland with the rest of Ireland. Northern Ireland is a territory of the United Kingdom while Ireland is a sovereign nation. The IRA also has a growing political party that is known as Sinn Fein, this party pretends not to be the representative of the IRA but by all accounts it is just a front. I will not pretend to truly understand the political and religious connotations of this battle but I will say this. In the not too distant past, we (America) were a colonial possession of Great Britain and through the combination of diplomatic, political and most importantly armed struggle, our great nation was born.
You see as a manly conservative, I always think that organized battle against a ruling nation is justified and morally understandable. That is why I support the IRA's quest to unify Ireland. I could not care less about the poorest nation in Western Europe but I do care about the precedent that an IRA victory could have. All over the Middle East, the world is seeing a birth of democracy and the rise of the people against repressive, backward and corrupt governments. This is possible, of course, because of the decision by the greatest President in history, GW, to invade Iraq and topple a despotic madman. This act and the subsequent election of a multi-ethnic government has emboldened the people of the Middle East to demand self-rule.
The IRA and Sinn Fein are in a struggle to throw off the rule of the UK and while I have no problem with the government of the UK, I can see why the Irish people are wanting to live in a unified Irish republic. As an American, I feel that it is my duty to support all people who seek to have an independent nation free from outside influence. Of course, I do not support the terrorists in the Middle East, they are a theocratic group who seeks to send the world back to the Middle Ages through Islamic revolution. These groups are, and should be, exterminated by the dozen like the vermin that they are. The moral of the story is the IRA and Sinn Fein are not a terrorist organization but a group who should be celebrated for standing up for self-rule. GOD BLESS DEMOCRACY!!!!
