Close the Gitmo Detention Center!
I have given it some thought so don't get your panties in a twist. I was vehemently in favor of keeping the Guantanamo detention center open and either trying those Jihadist douchenozzles in a military tribunal or simply executing them for be caught waging war while out of uniform. The leftist liberal bed-wetters, the ACLU and Democrats have been having fits about how unfair we have been in denying these freedom fighters their constitutional rights and the deleterious effect that has had on the United States image in the world.
I have a solution. Free them. Give them a presidential pardon. Fly them all to Topeka, Kansas and give them a four week orientation in U.S. Civics, hygiene, job interview skills and help them with their applications for government entitlements. Every man gets a Green Card, $200 cash and a $200 Greyhound bus ticket voucher. Welcome to Paradise...now go out and prosper. Sure, these are tough times right now but America has a great social safety net to pick up the slack while these new immigrants make their way in this brave new world.

The alternative is 7-10 years of litigation, a conviction rate of 5% and $100,000,000 spent to make a pack of shitweasel lawyers wealthy and to enable weepy politicians to assuage the guilt they suffer for the depredations of the Bush Presidency. Enough already.
A Simple Plan for Gaza
I heard on a news program in an interview that there is no real hope of peace in Gaza. All this effort over the last 60 years working at "A Middle East Peace Plan" has been futile. You can debate the Balfour Resolution, Zionism or the new UN giving "Palestine" to the Jews out of sympathy for the Holocaust but it is all pointless. The Israelis are there and they are there to stay.
Here is my plan for Gaza. Owing to its unique geography I have a plan that will work. It won't work in Lebanon or the West Bank but here it is:
Establish a ½ mile DMZ/no-go zone/depopulated corridor along the Egypt and Gaza border running West from Israel to the sea. I am unsure of the elevations but cut a 50' deep trench on the Northern side next to Gaza. Let it fill with sea water or if necessary pump it in. Install seismic detectors and underground microphones in the DMZ to detect tunneling activity. Destroy tunnels as they are detected by pumping sea water and pureed pork products into them. Reinforce the current security wall around the remainder of Gaza and tightly blockade the coast. Nothing goes in or comes out of Gaza without Israeli approval. Cut off all water, food, medicines and electricity. Withhold everything from Gaza until they behave. Israel should have no concerns about the media howl or left-wing pantie-wetting. Those folks don't like them anyway. The facts of the matter is that no one likes the Palestinians either, not the Arabs, not the Iranians, not the Europeans. You don't like them. Admit it. They are surrogates and pawns in a big hate game.
Those folks in Gaza act like douchebags, they get treated like douchebags. When they modify their own behavior and act with civility they get supplies. When they act up they get to sit in the corner and go to bed without supper. I wouldn't rub a puppy's nose in its shit to break it of pooping on the carpet but I would withhold free donated food and water from people who were trying to kill me.
Why is this such a difficult issue?
